Mechanical Engineering




The department of Mechanical Engineering has experienced faculty in the areas of Design, Thermal, Production and Industrial engineering, i.e., the major areas of Mechanical Engineering. All the faculties possess the minimum qualification of post-graduation. They have published a good number of research papers in refereed International / National Journals and International / National Conferences. Faculty published papers in peer reviewed international journals.

A major effort of the department is directed towards the creation of a stimulating intellectual environment in which undergraduate students can develop to their maximum potentials. Faculty members encourage undergraduate students to participate in both fundamental and applied research. Students have excellent opportunities to participate actively in the classroom and laboratories and to follow special interests within a subject area. Hence we provide students with the foundational skills needed to understand, exploit, and enhance the mechanical behavior of advanced engineering devices and systems, and to make creative contributions at the forefront of the field.

The department has adopted latest teaching learning processes like e-learning, google apps, power point presentations, seminars, industrial visits, expert Lectures from Industry and academia Personnel etc. We take special efforts to reduce the gap between Industry & Institute by arranging internships during semester breaks or summer in companies such as Nissan Ashok Leyland, BHEL, and Visakhapatnam Steel plant, NTPC, Bakelite Hylam, ONGC, Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Ordinance Factory, Sundaram Clayton Limited, Schneider Electric, Anjani Portland Cements, SAMKRG Pistons, NATCO Pharma and AurobindoPharmaLimted etc.

The department is encouraging the students to participate in workshops and conferences to exchange latest technologies among students. The students are presented technical papers in reputed institutes like IITS, NITS, BHU, and BITSPilani.

About HOD


Department of Mechanical Engineering obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Tech) from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering (M.Tech) with Specialization of Thermal from JNTU, Hyderabad and Pursuing Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from JNTU, Hyderabad. He has hard core (Industry includes ITC Paper boards, Bhadrachalam) experience and 15 years of teaching Experience out of which 1 years of experience in MNR College of Engineering & Technology itself. Formerly worked as a Asst.Professor Department of Mechanical Engineering in CMR College of Engineering & technology,Hyderabad & few of the reputed college at Hyderabad. After he joined in Department of Mechanical Engineering in MNR College of Engineering & technology on 27th NOV 2018. He guided more than 35 B.Tech Projects and 6 M.Tech Projects. He has conducted and attended many workshops, worked as a External Examiner for B.Tech final Projects. He has published papers in various International / National journals and IEEE International / National & International conferences. He has 4 International Journal papers. He qualified in online examination conducted by NPTEL. His areas of interest include Thermal and Internal Combustion engines.

This lab is well equipped with tools & equipments needed for the practice various trades of engineering like fitting, carpentry, tin-smithy, black-smithy, welding, house wiring, power tools and demonstrations of machine tools, plumbing etc., are some of the experiments done by the I year Students in this lab.




This lab is well equipped with instruments and equipments needed for the practice like preparation and study of the Micro Structure of pure metals like Iron, Copper and Aluminum. Also to carry out the preparation and study of the Micro Structure of Mild steels, low carbon steels, high-C steels, Cast Irons, Study of the Micro Structures of Non-Ferrous alloys, Study of the Micro Structures of Heat treated steels, Hardeneability of steels by Jominy End Quench Test, To find out the hardness of various treated and untreated steels are some of the experiments done by the II year I semester students in this lab.



This lab is well equipped with instruments and equipments needed for conduction of strength tests, compression test, bending test, impact test, torsion test, spring test and Punch Shear Test. These experiments are done by the II year I semester students in this lab.



The main objective of this lab is to understand the source of automotive fuels & lubricants and their basic properties. The lab is equipped with various calorimeters, viscometers flash and fire point. In this lab students will undergo training in Testing of various fuels to determine the calorific value using various calorimeters, testing of fuels and lubricants for determining their viscosity.



This lab is well equipped with instruments and equipments needed for the practice like conduction of Pattern Design and making Sand properties testing, Moulding Melting and Casting, ARC Welding Lap & Butt Joint , Spot Welding, TIG Welding, Plasma welding and Brazing, Blanking & Piercing operation and study of simple, compound and progressive press tool, Deep drawing and extrusion operation, Bending and other operations, Injection Moulding, Blow moulding are some of the experiments done by the II year II semester students in this lab.



This lab is well equipped with instruments and equipments needed for the practice like verification of Bernoulli's Theorem, Calibration of Orifice meter , Calibration of venturimeter , Calibration of Notch, Determination of friction factor for a given pipe line , Determination of loss of head due to sudden contraction/Expansion in a pipeline , Impact of jets on Vanes., Performance Test on Pelton Wheel , Performance Test on Francis Turbine , Performance Test on Single Stage Centrifugal Pump , Performance Test on Reciprocating Pump etc., are some of the experiments done by the II year I semester students in this lab.



Kinematics of machine lab provides the practical knowledge about various mechanisms & their applications. Student will go through the various experiments of different mechanism like cam-follower mechanism etc. There are fourteen experiments in this lab. Students have to perform at least ten experiments from the list.





The Machine Shop is equipped with Centre Lathes, Drilling Machines, Shaping Machines and Milling Machine for preparing the models and gaining the practical exposure in operating the machines. Also, the machine shop is equipped with high quality cutting tools for the operations like Marking, Centre drilling, Facing, Taper turning, Grooving, knurling, Profile turning, Drilling, Boring, Thread cutting etc., The students are also trained in using inserts for cutting tool for machining purpose and Gear cutting operation.

Measurements constitute an important element in all laboratories for conducting experiments and for all types of control processes in the industrial activities. This lab provides the students an active learning environment for the measurement technologies used in production engineering field. Students use the laboratory to collect and analyze measurement data, evaluate measurement methodologies, and learn the capabilities and limitations of measurement technologies. The lab includes LVDT, Load Cell, Pressure transducer, Micrometer, Thermocouple, Slip gauges, Sine bar, Sine center, Bevel protractor, Profile projector, Lathe and Drill tool dynamometer and other equipments required for calibration and measurements.



The Objective Of This Lab Is To Understand The Basic Principles In The Areas Of Internal Combustion Engines, Boilers, And Refrigeration Systems To Under Graduate And Post Graduate Students Through A Series Of Experiments. In This Lab The Experiments Are Performed To Measure Performance Parameters Of The Systems Such As Brake Power, Efficiency, Torque, Cop, And Mass Of Fuel. Students Have A Fairly Good Understanding Of The Theory Underlying The Experiments And The Entire Lab Course Is Designed Such That Classroom Lectures Precede The Lab Work. The Thermal Engineering Laboratory Is Equipped With Test Facilities For Doing Research With In Internal Combustion Engines For Energy Conversion.



Heat Transfer Laboratory aims at providing hands-on experience to the students on the underlying theory. Currently the heat transfer lab is equipped with, demonstration of various thermometry techniques, heat exchange system, ventilation system, Natural and forced convection system, heat conduction unit for different materials, and thermal radiation unit.



CAD Laboratory

The CAD Lab provides facilities for undergraduate students and faculty members to work with 2-D & 3-D design and analysis software for their academic and research work. The 3-D Modeling Software and FE Analysis software’s available in the CAD lab are:

CAM Laboratory

The CAM lab is equipped with machine tools and related machinery in the manufacturing of work pieces with help of computer programming and software. The CAD model of object is prepared in 3D modeling software and then its FE analysis with the help of Analysis software and then machining using CNC programming and CNC machines.



Instrumentation and Control laboratory provides a “hands-on” environment that is crucial for developing students’ understanding of theoretical concepts. Instrumentation and Control laboratory is housed with different instruments like temperature measurement, level detection, pressure measurement, flow measurement etc on different panels or rigs these are arranged in different control configurations to achieve specific control objectives.
